The Governor's Office for Local Development, or GOLD, provides financial help in the way of grant and loan assistance, as well as advising local governments in matters of budget, personnel and other issues relevant to those entities.

- Governor Approves $1,231,844 in Recreational Trails Grants
Wednesday, May 14, 2008 FRANKFORT, KY (May 14, 2008) – Gov. Steve Beshear, in conjunction with the Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) and the Recreational Trails Advisory Board, has announced the approval of 25 Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grants for a total allocation of $1,231,844.

(May 13,2008) — The Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) is now accepting online nominations for the fifth annual Commissioner’s Spirit of Kentucky award. The award is presented to the sponsor(s) of a public project that best demonstrates an innovative expression of multi-jurisdictional cooperation and cost effective use of resources.
- Governor Awards Manchester Grant for Water Treatment Plant
Monday, May 12, 2008 FRANKFORT, KY (May 9, 2008) – Gov. Steve Beshear presented the City of Manchester with a ceremonial check today commemorating the award of a $1,000,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The funds will be used towards the design and construction of a new water treatment plant to serve all of Clay County.
